Masterpiece Rocks the Stage and the Behind the Scenes at the Jimmy Buffett Concert

“Work Hard, Play Hard” became the theme of the week when Masterpiece Advertising was contracted by Live Nation to publicize its 2016 series of four Atlantic City beach concerts, which was kicked off by Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band with special guest G. Love and Special Sauce on Saturday, August 13, 2016.

With only seven days to pull it off, and without dropping any other client balls, Masterpiece developed and implement a PR strategy that scored major daily print and TV media hits, as well as a wall-to-wall, day-of-event coverage, including:

On Monday, August 8th, longtime Jimmy Buffett friend and Ocean City, NJ, resident and Masterpiece Advertising Vice President of Strategic Marketing Alan Rosenzweig were guests on the Harry Hurley Show, sharing how her late husband, Dave, a U.S. Secret Service Agent, helped avoid tragedy when Buffett’s plane was mistakenly attacked in Jamaica.

On Wednesday, Resorts Casino Hotel President and CEO Mark Giannantonio welcomed Popp to Resorts’ LandShark Bar & Grill Restaurant, where 6ABC Philadelphia and SNJ Today filmed the a 5 o’clock somewhere toast (happened to be in Rome and Paris at the time) and interviewed Giannantonio to get the weekend party started early.

The week continued on Thursday when Maggie Magee from 6ABC in Philadelphia filmed her weekend weather forecast and a series of Live cut ins from Resorts’ Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and LandShark Bar & Grill Restaurant, interviewing Jimmy Buffett fans and Jim Sutcliffe from Live Nation.

In between around-town interviews and coordinating media coverage requests, Masterpiece’s PR team took a few minutes to unwind and get ready for Saturday’s big concert with some well-deserved evening margaritas.

On Friday, we were able to secure a behind the scenes, backstage walkthrough for CBS 3 and 6ABC Philadelphia, SNJ Today and The Press of Atlantic City.

Then it was time to put on our game faces for the big day!

Our President Phyllis Lacca and Online Marketing Manager Isabel Terrones kicked off concert day with a last-minute tour of the stage and VIP area with Live Nation’s Jim Sutcliffe and Rachel Spivak.

As the Parrot Heads, Pirates and LandSharks who attended the concert began flocking onto the beach, Masterpiece’s PR team began welcoming and escorting the media.

Showtime came and went, and everything went smooth on the white sands of the Atlantic City beach, as the Masterpiece PR team helped the media navigate the concert venue and get what they needed to write and file their stories.

Thanks to all of the pre-show publicity and promotion, the Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Band Concert was a major hit and one of the biggest in Atlantic City’s history, attracting 35,000 to the world-famous beach.

After the weeks’ worth of hard work, it was time for the ultimate island treat as our President, Phyllis Lacca, had the opportunity to go backstage and see Jimmy Buffett up close and got to give Jenny Ryan and her team a sneak peak of backstage…

…while the rest of Masterpiece’s PR team relaxed and enjoyed some tropical cocktails with local friends in the VIP tent.
